Automotive OEMs are increasing their vertical integration in areas of software platform and systems development to accelerate the availability of the technologies they need in production form. This involves working with new partners deeper down the hardware and software technology stacks, bringing new skills, methods and processes in house, all whilst still working with some traditional tier 1 supplier partners.

The results are wide ranging. Architecture and integration teams are now working with internal and external suppliers, and the teams may encounter and need to utilize disruptive new technologies, increasingly in the form of software factories. Watch this session to learn about driving vertical integration and horizontal collaboration in OEMs and suppliers.

Explore these trends and what they mean for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, the areas of development affected and how the new collaborations between OEMs, technology vendors and standards organizations are starting to work. Collaboration now also extends more formally between different types of standards bodies, ensuring the compatibility and availability of software and hardware supporting heterogeneous software platforms often described by terms similar to OEM.OS.
