Catalytic packed beds are a chemical and process industry workhorse that enables large-scale chemical production. While catalytic packed beds are robust and long-lasting, they're complex to design. It’s also challenging to understand their behavior, and they're difficult to operate in a controlled manner.

In this webinar, two distinguished chemical and process industry experts will present an overview of the past, present and future of the particle-resolved computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach towards modeling catalytic reactors.

Register for the webinar to discover:

  • Key insights and behavioral understandings of catalytic packed beds from the last two decades of modeling research
  • How using a CFD-based approach helps accurately model catalytic packed beds from a small tube through particle diameter ratios
  • Critical challenges that need to be overcome, including representative bed structure, high-quality computational mesh generation and use of CFD data to interpret reaction behavior and improve current processes
  • Future catalytic packed bed research needs, including multi-scale modeling and the application of this approach towards process intensification
