Turbomachinery Simulation

Turbomachines transfer energy between rotors and fluids. These machines are essential for energy supply from wind and hydropower, as well as steam and gas turbines.

Register for our webinar to observe the application of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ turbomachinery flows. You’ll also learn how to achieve quality and accuracy in turbomachinery CFD simulations.

Discover the essential aspects of best-practice CFD workflows

By watching this webinar, you’ll discover the essential aspects of best practice CFD workflows. Webinar topics will include:

  • Choosing appropriate turbulence and rotor-stator interaction models for work and power machines
  • The design and generation of high-quality meshes and their relationship to numerical accuracy
  • Numerical settings for fast and robust simulations
  • Typical boundary condition settings for turbomachinery applications like the specification of outlet-corrected mass flow rates

A particular webinar emphasis is on techniques for assessing quality and accuracy of simulation results, quantifying iteration, discretization, uncertainties and model errors.

Observe new turbomachinery post-processing features of Simcenter STAR-CCM+

In the webinar, we’ll apply our turbomachinery CFD workflow to a transonic axial compressor stage and an axial 1.5-stage high-work turbine. In both cases, we compare the simulation results to experimental data demonstrating the new turbomachinery post-processing features of Simcenter STAR-CCM+.

We’ll close the event with an outlook on advanced topics such as unsteady-state simulations of off-design operating points and the potential of solution-adapted meshes.
