Internal combustion engine engineers have been consistently improving thermal efficiency, fuel economy, and reducing emissions over many years. Many different engine concepts, such as PFI, DI, gasoline, diesel, homogeneous mixture, or stratified charge, have been studied with the help of experimentation and 3D CFD simulations.
