Gain industry insights on CII's first year and discover why digital transformation is key for enhancing ship energy efficiency success.
As urgency mounts to act on environmental protection, the International Maritime Organization has enacted a stringent strategy with key milestone regulations. The upcoming mandate aims to slash CO2 ship emissions by 40% by 2030, measured against the 2008 baseline. Consequently, ships must now compute two critical ratings: the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) for gauging energy efficiency and the annual operational Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) with its associated rating. The inaugural reports, based on 2023 data, will be unveiled in 2024.
To keep up with the regulation and act quickly, the industry has no recourse but to embark on a digital transformation, leveraging cutting-edge technology.
