Risk management requires more than analysis. Safety-critical industries such as medical, automotive, defense, and aerospace increasingly require full traceability of risk management. Tracking, mitigating, controlling, and eliminating risks requires a vast understanding of the implications across product development. Compliance with multiple regulations and projects can get complex quickly, requiring a more robust tracking methodology.

Without more robust tracking, teams face risk management silos that:

  • provide no traceability to requirements
  • push risk measures outside of project management
  • lack intelligent reuse as copy and paste dominates

Risk management software demonstrations - FMEA basic, FMEA advanced, HARA, TARA

In this on-demand webinar, you'll learn how Polarion supports full traceability between your product risks, requirements and mitigation tasks with software demonstrations. See how production (FMEA), hazards (HARA) and cybersecurity (TARA) risk management tools translate into traceability from design and development to post-release.

Complex product risk traceability requires more than spreadsheets

Tools currently used for risk management are typically simple but not fully trackable. Risk management is a living process that becomes a granular part of the entire process from first design and manufacturing through post-market surveillance.

Much of the difficulty comes from using old technology – static written documents and spreadsheets – to track the complex and dynamic environment in which applicable standards and other product requirements are tracked over time and through design and development iterations.

Spreadsheets are good for tracking one-to-one relationships but are less helpful when dealing with the one-to-many and many-to-many relationship tracking required for ensuring regulatory compliance for product development. With a central repository to update stakeholder documents and maintain versioning, users can share living design elements.
