CII era of shipping: Why is it the right time to employ digital solutions to succeed?

Gain industry insights on CII's first year and discover why digital transformation is key for enhancing ship energy efficiency success.

Estimated Watching Time: 55 minutes

CII - Carbon Intensity Indicator

As urgency mounts to act on environmental protection, the International Maritime Organization has enacted a stringent strategy with key milestone regulations. The upcoming mandate aims to slash CO2 ship emissions by 40% by 2030, measured against the 2008 baseline. Consequently, ships must now compute two critical ratings: the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) for gauging energy efficiency and the annual operational Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) with its associated rating. The inaugural reports, based on 2023 data, will be unveiled in 2024.

To keep up with the regulation and act quickly, the industry has no recourse but to embark on a digital transformation, leveraging cutting-edge technology.

Join this webinar compiling key insights from the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) Technical Conference 2024: Managing CII and Associated Challenges hosted by RINA at the IMO in January 2024 to discuss the different perspectives from shipowners, class, operators, service providers etc. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the practical implications of CII, as well as how digitalization and the digital twin approach can help you proactively prepare for the future.

In this webinar you will learn:

  • The importance of CII
  • Key findings and takeaways from the conference
  • Essential insights from a year of CII implementation
  • Digital Twin approach accelerating innovation in the maritime industry
  • Digital engineering tools enhancing operational efficiency for existing ships
