Siemens EDA and the IEEE Council on EDA’s Design Automation Technical Committee (IEEE CEDA DATC) have pioneered a new interaction model to enable and accelerate academic EDA research. Notably, first-ever public benchmarking results have been developed for Aprisa P&R on open design testcases and PDKs, to boost progress in the RTL-to-GDS research ecosystem. The results are fully reproducible using tool scripts that are available in a public GitHub repository.

This webinar will cover three main topics

  • The range of efforts needed to achieve this milestone for the field
  • The significance of the new interaction model for academic EDA research and its transfer into industry practice
  • Anticipated next steps to extend the new interaction model and grow collaborations between Siemens EDA and the IEEE CEDA DATC – along with the broader academic research and education ecosystem

What you will learn

  • Why Siemens EDA’s permission and deep collaboration to publish benchmarking results at ICCAD-2025 was such a significant milestone for the field
  • Anticipated benefits for academic EDA researchers and educators, as well as for Siemens EDA technology and products
  • Paths forward to grow and scale this new interaction model

Who should attend

  • EDA product organizations – e.g., from R&D, marketing and support – can learn about opportunities to leverage this new interaction (from support of contests, to targeted research engagements, to Siemens role as golden verifier, etc.)
  • Higher education and workforce development / training professionals can learn about opportunities to develop labs and curriculum modules based on open testcase and PDK enablements
