Accelerating path to energy transition, Simulation for design

Increasingly stringent CO2 reduction targets at the public and private levels have accelerated the development of clean transportation and renewable energy. Due to the continuous improvement in Li-ion battery technology and concomitant cost decrease, electric vehicles (EV) are increasingly gaining market shares over traditional internal combustion engines (ICE). Simultaneously, increased penetration of intermittent sources of renewable energy is being made possible through the availability of reliable, long-life energy storage. This rapid change in technological platform requires an industry-wide mobilization and shortened development timelines. To accelerate the development of novel battery systems, the transportation and grid industries are increasingly turning to high-fidelity, multi-scale simulation. Aziz Abdellahi

Battery Application Specialist

Aziz Abdellahi ist Spezialist für Batterieanwendungen bei Siemens Digital Industries Software. Seine Expertise umfasst die elektrochemische Modellierung, die Modellierung äquivalenter Schaltkreise, die Modellierung der Batterielebensdauer, Statistical Pack Analysis, die Modellierung auf Fahrzeugebene und die atomistische Modellierung. Bevor er zu Siemens kam, arbeitete Aziz als Principal Modeling Scientist bei A123 Systems, einem großen Lieferanten von Lithium-Ionen-Batterien für den Automobil- und Netzsektor. Aziz hat am Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Werkstofftechnik promoviert und 15 peer-reviewed Publikationen auf dem Gebiet der Lithium-Ionen-Batterien verfasst. Er wurde 2014 mit dem Norman Hackerman Young Author Award (Electrochemical Society) und 2018 mit dem Outstanding Oral Presentation Award der SAE ausgezeichnet.
